I began leading an adult writing group at the beginning of this month and I love it. The idea for one has been swimming around at the back of my mind for a while…so, in the early spring when the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council put out a call for for summer classes, I thought, “Why not? Just give it a try.” The AWG started off with a little splutter at the first meeting but then quickly took off the next time we met. Fingers crossed that it will become as successful as the young writers group that I began leading for 9-12 year olds back in the fall of 2023. Some of the older kids in the YWG are aging out now so I will be forming a teen group for them and other interested 12-17 year olds this fall. I absolutely love all of the creativity and sense of community that is generated in these writing groups!
